Library Use
Any person who lives, works, attends school or pays taxes in Mendham may
request a library card according to policies set by the Board. The
Library is part of the Morris County system (MAIN) and, as such, all
cardholders have limited privileges with all other MAIN affiliates.
The library affords these same privileges to other MAIN members. There is
no age requirement for a library card.
Loan Periods
Books, audiobooks, videos, DVDs, and magazines may be borrowed from the
Library:

Books - 2 weeks

Feature (Fiction) Videos (VHS) - 1 week, Free

Feature (Fiction) DVDs - 2 days, $1.00 charge

Instructional (Nonfiction) Videos (VHS) - 2 weeks, Free

Magazines - 1 week
Renewals
Materials may be renewed if they have not been requested by another
patron. You can renew in person, by logging into your account through the online
catalog, or over the phone (973-543-4152). Items may
be returned to any MAIN library.
Fines
There is no charge for loans of books, audiobooks, magazines, and
videos (VHS). DVDs are subject to a $1 rental charge. Overdue books, audiobooks, and
magazines will incur a late fine of 10 cents per day. Overdue
videos
(VHS) and DVDs will incur a late fine of $1.00 per day. Replacement library cards incur a fine of
$3.00 per card.
Reserves and Requests
Books in the Library's
collection that
are checked out may be put on reserve. Book's outside the Library's
collection may be requested by interlibrary loan. You can make requests in
person, on the phone (973-543-4152) or
online.
Internet Use
In keeping with the Library’s mission to make accessible the broadest
possible range of information in a variety of formats, the Mendham Borough
Library provides public access to the Internet. The Library cannot control
and is not responsible for the content or accuracy of information available
on the Internet. Any restriction of a child’s access to the Internet is the
responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.
Users failing to
abide by the Internet etiquette rules listed below may be instructed to
chose another Internet site or terminate the session. Failure to comply
with these instructions may result in termination of the computer session by
the Library staff. Individuals are expected to use the Internet in a
responsible manner. Please be considerate of your fellow patrons.

Do not view or
print materials inappropriate for use in a public setting.

Do not alter,
damage, abuse, or sabotage equipment or software, alter configurations or
install any software.

Users are liable
for costs arising from malicious damage to Library equipment or software.

Users may not use
any Library terminal for illegal purposes.

Users may not
violate licensing agreements or copyright Laws.

Please observe
posted time limits if others are waiting.
Gifts and Donations Policy
Gifts are always appreciated and, in fact, monetary donations are essential to the library’s ability to function.
We would also welcome the gift of used audiobooks. Gifts-in-kind are gratefully accepted, subject to the approval of the Board
of Trustees.
