Kate Emmons Scrapbook Collection Archived
The Historical Society recently received over 20
scrapbooks created by Catherine Emmons, Mendham
Borough historian, who passed away last May.
These newspaper clippings, mostly from the Observer
Tribune, chronicle close to 100 years of life in
Mendham from the early 1900s to 1999.
Peggy Oswald, the Society’s Secretary and Archivist,
has inventoried and labeled the entire collection
and is very familiar with its content.
They will
be kept in the Fletcher Room at the library and
will be available upon special request. Another
recent addition is a collection of drawings and
photographs of the Thompson House on Main Street.
The house is listed on state and national registers
of historic places. The collection was a gift of
Mr. and Mrs. David L. Thompson in memory of Dr.
and Mrs. Laurence M. Thompson.
The Fletcher Room Archives are open on the
first Friday of every month at 11 am. Access
can also be arranged by calling Peggy Oswald,
973-543-7548 or emailing hank-o@patmedia.net.
