eBook Facts

  • An eBook is a digital copy of a book that can be read on a computer or portable device such as nook™,  Sony Readers, or Kobo™.  The library's collection is now also compatible with Kindle™ ! Click here for complete listing of compatible devices and computers.

  • When borrowing for the first time, please follow instructions for download of Adobe Digital Editions for your particular device.  You will only need to download the software once.

  • There are a limited number of digital copies for each title and you may need to place a hold for popular items.  You will receive an email when the item is available for checkout.  Items will be held for 3 days after notification has been sent.

  • At the end of your lending period, titles automatically disappear from your account, computer and/or device.

  • A maximum of 5 titles can be checked out to your account at one time.

  • Project Gutenberg offers over 15,000 eBook titles without the wait! These titles do not count against your lending limit, are always available and the downloads do not expire. From Digital Library NJ's main page, click on "Enjoy additional eBooks today"  located in the right side panel.
